Sallie Watson Towler

Gretna............Sallie Watson Towler, age 90 of Gretna died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Altavista.
Born August 24, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher Watson and Irene Crawley Watson. She was predeceased by her husband, James Woodrow Towler; two brothers, Calvin Watson, and J. W. Watson; and four sisters, Beulah Davidson, Evelyn Towler, Agnes Blair, and Kitty Doss. Mrs. Towler was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was retired from Craddock-Terry, and enjoyed cooking, and sewing.
She is survived by three sons, Guy Towler and wife, Carolyn of Gretna, John Towler and wife, Jeanette of Trinity, NC, and Nelson Towler and wife, Debra of Gretna; a daughter, Betty Oakes and husband, Clarence of Hurt; a brother, Gordon Watson of Hampton; four sisters, Elnora Estes of Hampton, Patsy Rice of Monroe, Dorothy Yeatts of Gretna, and Virginia David of Gretna; 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 25, 2010 at New Bethel Church of the Brethren by Rev. Leo Johnson, and Rev. Curtis English. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Clarence Oakes, 1840 Spring Road, Hurt.
