Gretna………Ryland Amos Yeatts, age 87 of Gretna formerly of Alexandria, died Monday, February 5, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born April 29, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Albert "Jack" Amos Yeatts, and Edna Simpson Yeatts.  He was predeceased by five brothers, Garcia "Rick" Yeatts, Ramsey "Booty" Yeatts, Garland Yeatts, Richard Yeatts, and Garnett Yeatts; three sisters, Jerri Jones, Theresa Custer, and Nancie Oltarzewski; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Jones, Herdon Custer, and Dale Oltarzewski; and one sister-in-law, Frances Yeatts.  Mr. Yeatts graduated from Gretna High School in 1954, and he received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from UVA.  He taught at John S. Mosby Academy in Front Royal and Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria.  Mr. Yeatts was a U.S. Army Veteran, and lifelong member of Gretna Christian Church.  He loved his family, and was always helping when there was a need.  He enjoyed sending cards to people, attending class reunions, and traveling, having visited many countries.

He is survived by one sister, Margurette "Maggie" Angell and husband, Richard of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Roseanne Yeatts of Florida; nieces and nephews, Christine Schwitzerlett, Lisa Lindo, Mary Butler and husband, Brian, Paige Hite, Debra Waters and husband, Richard, Tracie Shelton and husband, Steve, Mark Allgood, Paula Ricketts, Todd Yeatts and wife, Cindy, Stacey Yeatts, Stephanie Mays and husband, Kevin, Amy Palya and husband, Paul, and Colleen Hazelhurst and husband, David; and many great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Gretna Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister.  Burial with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in the Yeatts Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
