Gretna…..Ruth Guthrie Wyatt, age 90 of Gretna died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Altavista.
Born August 24, 1921 in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Howard Guthrie and Hallie Peak Guthrie. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Coleman Wyatt; one brother, Jr. Guthrie; and three sisters, Sterling Tanner, Maggie Hodges, and Lynwood Carr. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and was a home maker. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of the choir; and enjoyed cooking, and gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Ronnie C. Wyatt and his wife, Jill Campbell of Lake Oswego, OR, Harold W. Wyatt and his wife, Carolyn of Appomattox, and Barry H. Wyatt and his wife, Teresa of Gretna; three grandchildren, John Wyatt, Jacob Wyatt, and Meghan Wyatt.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church by Rev. Harold Thornton and Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Teresa Wyatt, 5937 Riceville Road, Gretna.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Autumn Care family for their care of Mrs. Wyatt.
