Russell Lee Dalton

Gretna……….Russell Lee Dalton, age 67 of 3297 Pittsville Road, Gretna died Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born March 19, 1944 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late, Odie B. Dalton and Carolyn Dalton Dalton. He was predeceased by a brother, Stuart Dalton, and an infant sister, Bonnie Dalton. Mr. Dalton was a retired truck driver and trainer for M.S. Carrier, and was a member of Summersett Baptist Church. Following his retirement he and his wife, Ethel sold Avon and he was known as Mr. Avon. Russell enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, and Cleveland Indians..
He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Ethel Brumfield Dalton of the residence; one son, Tracy Dalton and wife, Diane of Gretna; two daughters, Loretta Dalton Smith and friend David Kirschner of Gretna, and Julie Creasy and friend, Keith Betterton of Gretna; three brothers, Ryland Dalton of Lexington, L. Ray (Tenney) Dalton of Gretna, and Michael W. Dalton of Danville; five grandchildren, Starr Betterton, Cory Dalton, Brittney Dalton, Tiffany Conner, and Michaela Smith; and two great grandchildren, Austin Betterton, and Alyssa King.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Ryan Patterson and Tommy Clark. Burial will follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
