Hurt…......Rubye Walker Arthur, age 99 of Hurt, died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at her residence.

Born September 28, 1922 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Coles Walker and Lula Arthur Walker.  She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Wayne Arthur; a granddaughter, Amanda Michelle Myers; three brothers, Sayford Walker, Charlie Walker, and Garland Walker; and two sisters, Douglas Jarrett, and Jessie Bruce.  Mrs. Arthur was a member of Motley United Methodist Church and she was a former Assistant Deli Manager with Harris Teeter.  She loved her family and friends; and dedicated her life to serving her family, friends, church and community.

She is survived by two daughters, Pam West and husband, C.L. of Altavista, and Deborah Hutcherson and husband, Marvin of Hurt; two grandchildren, Jamie West and wife, April of Cary, NC, and Heidi West Clay and husband, David of Evington; one great-grandson, Jackson Clay and Katy Ward of Hurt; one step-grandson, Scott Hutcherson and wife, Teresa; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Motley United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Brown.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times will be at the residence.
