Ruby Tanksley Payne

Gretna, VA………Ruby Tanksley Payne of Gretna, passed away June 20, 2015, in South Carolina at the home of her daughter, Pattie Meade of SC.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Payne had been employed by the Gretna Building Supply and Chatham Building Supply. She was a member of Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served her Lord as bookkeeper for over 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Cordie Tanksley, three brothers, Billy and Calvin Tanksley of Gretna and Dewey E. "Jack" Tanksley of Chase City and a son, Edward Lee Payne Jr. of Amherst, VA.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Gail D. Payne of Amherst, a daughter, Pattie P. Meade (Vern) of Sumter, S.C.; and three dearly loved grandsons, James "Jamey" D. Gowdy, Jr. (Laura) of Sumter, SC, Edward Lee Payne, III of Roanoke, VA and Matthew Hunter Payne of Richmond, VA.
A visitation will be held at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home in Gretna, VA, on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held at the Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M by Pastor Donald Powell and Pastor Jerry Blevins with the interment to follow in the Payneton United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church.
