Gretna………Ruby Hypes Franklin, age 89 of Gretna died Thursday, February 10, 2022 at her residence.

Born May 31, 1932 in Giles County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Burnett Hypes and Pauline Long Hypes. She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin Dare Franklin; one son, Benjamin Franklin; five brothers, Harry Hypes, Fred Hypes, Albert Hypes, Rodney Hypes and Russell Hypes; and two sisters, Goldie Divers and Marcel Hippenstall. She was a member of First Baptist Church Gretna and was a home maker. Mrs. Franklin was an avid flower gardener and quilter. She had very strong faith in God, loved unconditionally and was a very devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by two daughters, Tonya F. Urquhart and husband, Doug of Richmond and Judy F. Apple and husband, James of Burlington; three sons, Donnie Franklin of Gretna, Calvin Franklin and wife, Irene of Omaha, NE and Melvin Franklin and wife, Barbara of Grantville, KS; one sister, Betty Sue Snowden and husband, Norman of Gloucester; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. Bob Ballance.
