Penhook………Ruby Mae Barrett Lovelace, age 97 of Penhook died Monday, October 14, 2024.

Born May 16, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth Emerson Barrett.  She was predeceased by her husband, James Richard "Dick" Lovelace, Sr.; one son, James Richard Lovelace, Jr.; and two sisters, Lula Emerson and Frances Barbour.  Mrs. Lovelace was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and she retired from Craddock-Terry.  She was a very generous person and enjoyed helping others.  She was a wonderful cook; and loved the outdoors, cooking and her friends and family.

She is survived by one son, Michael A. Lovelace and wife, Donna of Penhook; one daughter, Cindy Lovelace Redding and husband, John of Appomattox; three grandchildren, Brandon Michael Lovelace, Wonda Lovelace Rawlings and Jennifer Shields Atkinson and husband, Brian; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Mary Watson and Brian "Marty" McConnell for their love and care.
