Gretna……Ruby Lee Arnold Layne, age 80 of Gretna died Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Born June 10, 1941 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Arnold and Jessie Robertson Arnold.  She was predeceased by a son, George William Layne; a daughter, Norma Yeatts; a grandson, D.J. Layne; five brothers, Dan Arnold, Frankie Arnold, Jack Arnold, George Arnold, and Jerry Arnold; and a sister, Eva A. Waters. Ruby was a homemaker and attended Summersett Baptist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, going to yard sales, thrift stores, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter; Cathy Hancock and husband, Clarence of Pittsville; six sons, Mike Layne and Janet of Pearisburg, Ronnie Layne and wife, Ellen of Hurt, Daryl Layne and wife, Tammy of Amherst, Barry Davis and wife, Shannon of Hurt, Randy Layne of Lynchburg, and Melvin Layne of Gretna; two sisters, Shirley Layne and husband, Gary of Lynchburg, and Sue Irby of Hurt; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, and other times will be at the residence.
