Altavista……….Roy Lee Walden, age 69 of Altavista died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his residence.
Born July 21, 1947 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Raymond Grey Walden and Pauline Miller Walden. Mr. Walden was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a former employee of High View Motors. He enjoyed reading the Bible, fishing and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Tuggle Walden of the residence; one step-son, Kevin Hughes and wife, Bernadine of Forest; one brother, Berry Lewis Walden and wife, Lucille of Hurt; two sisters, Cathy Powell and husband, George of Lynchburg and Margaret Ann Hall and husband, Walter of Evington; a special aunt, Jeanette Irby and husband, Fitzhugh "Pete" of Hurt; a special niece, Ashley Boener and husband, Stan of Lynchburg; many nieces and nephews; and a special pet, "Hope."
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Brad Hendrix. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times will be at the residence.
