Altavista.....Roy Kessler Tucker, Sr., age 84 died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Autumn Care Nursing & Rehab in Altavista.
Born April 26, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Terry Henry Tucker and Eunice Edmunds Tucker. He was predeceased by two brothers, Willie Tucker, and Clarence Tucker; and six sisters, Janie Fisher, Mabel Saunders, Irma Lewis, Ruth Power, Juanita Marr, and Odell McDonald. Mr. Tucker was a former employee with Gulf Oil (Chevron). He was a Mason, and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by three sons, Roy K. (Jerry) Tucker, Jr. of Hurt, Paul David Tucker of Danville, and Samuel T. Tucker of Gretna; two daughters, Gail L. Tucker of Tampa, FL, and Evelyn (June) Barbour of Gretna; one sister, Eldean Scruggs of Powhatan; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 14, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jack Barrett. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Colbert Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter, Evelyn (June) Barbour, 2761 Marina Drive, Gretna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tunstall Fire and Rescue Department, P.O. Box 575, Danville, VA 24543, or to the Shriners Hospital for children.
