Danville……Roy Franklin "Butch" Sowers, Jr., age 77 of Danville passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at his residence.

Born February 7, 1949 in Danville, he was a son of the late Roy Franklin Sowers, Sr. and Shirley Myers Sowers. Mr. Sowers attended Piney Grove Baptist Church and a retired supervisor with Stockhausen Inc. of Greensboro. Butch enjoyed fly fishing, the arrival of spring so he could watch the hummingbirds come in and he loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Shelton Sowers of the residence; one sister, Sharon Womack of Burlington, NC; mother-in-law, Christine Payne of Gretna; and numerous nieces and nephews

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026 at Piney Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. David Turner and Pastor Wyatt Joyner.  Interment will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
