Gretna……….Roy Kent Dalton, age 84 of Gretna passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 at Centra Gretna Medical Center.

Born April 2, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late George Coleman Dalton and Carrie Jackson Dalton.  He was predeceased by five brothers, Mack Dalton, Harry Dalton, Robert Dalton, Frank Dalton and Woodrow Dalton; and two sisters, Carrie Simpson and Ann Elliott.  Mr. Dalton retired from the Lane Company after 40 years of service. He enjoyed NASCAR, classic cars and taking care of his pet dog, "Andrew."

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Dalton of the residence; one son, Troy Kent Dalton and wife, Pam of Danville; one brother, Elwood Dalton of Sycamore; one sister, Linda Tuck of Sycamore; one grandson, Josh Dalton of Hardy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Rev. Bobby Brumfield.
