Hurt………Rosa Emily Slocum Rowell, age 85 of Hurt died Thursday, April 11, 2019 at her residence.

Born January 8, 1934 in Brattleboro, VT, she was a daughter of the late Sherman Slocum and Lydia Ann Grant Slocum.  She was predeceased by her husband, Dale Wayne Rowell, Sr.; one grandchild; and eight brothers and sisters.  Mrs. Rowell enjoyed knitting, fishing, collecting things, playing Bingo, and taking care of her family.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Duby of Hurt; one daughter, Frances Kathan of Hurt; four step-children, Dale Rowell, Jr., Samantha Fowler, Patricia Rines, and Kenneth Rowell; one brother, Sonny Slocum of Waterbury, VT; two sisters, Hariett Slocum of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Slocum of Enfield, CT; 5 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Walter Coles.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
