Gretna………Ronald "Ronnie" Lynn Smith, age 70 of Gretna died Thursday, April 25, 2024 at his residence.

Born March 28, 1954 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Smith and Nancy Haskins Smith.  He was predeceased by one son, Jason Paul Smith; twin daughters, Lori Lynn Smith and Leslie Kay Smith; and two brothers, Michael Smith and Roger Smith.  Ronnie was a member and trustee of Zion Chapel for 25 years and a former member of the Gretna Rescue Squad for eight years. He retired from Ennis after 39 years of service and was the owner/operator of S and S Backhoe Service.  He was a Mason and member of Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M.  Ronnie loved raising a garden and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Lewis Smith of the residence; one son, Justin Smith and Kristen of Gretna; two grandchildren, Brenden Smith and Easton Smith; and his mother-in-law, Virginia Shelton Lewis.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Zion Chapel by Rev. Harold Thornton, Ramsey Taylor and Dr. David Wheeler.  Burial with Masonic Rites by Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M. will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
