Ronnie Owen Dalton was ushered into Heaven on the wings of angels at 11:08 Wednesday July 2, 2025.

His beloved wife, Gail, of nearly 50 years was by his side as he bid this old earth goodbye. The life they shared was one filled with mutual devotion, respect, hard work and above all love!

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son of whom he was enormously proud, Timothy Wayne Dalton and daughter -in-law, Crystal West Dalton. He leaves two grandsons that are incapable of "doing anything wrong" according to their Poppa, Daxton Rhett Dalton and Ryder Westyn Dalton. These two gave him joy and hope to face all of his health struggles right up to his last day.

Ronnie was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to Guy and Mildred Dalton on February 28, 1951. The third youngest of 10 siblings, he is also survived by (3) brothers: Guy Owen Dalton, Jr., Douglas W. Dalton, and Jerry Dalton as well as (2) sisters: Betty Dalton George and Geraldine Stratton. He was predeceased by (3) brothers: Berkley Dalton, Malon Dalton Sr., and Garry Dalton as well as (2) sisters Barbara D. Hawkins and Louise Woolard. A multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws and friends will miss his kind and gentle ways.

Ronnie grew up on the family farm in an area known as Brights outside of Gretna, Va. Here he developed his love of God and became a member of Summersett Baptist Church.  Hard work, high ethical standards and good morals went hand in hand during his younger days. These same lifelong virtues molded the "Man of Few Words"into a man his friends and family grew to respect and love so dearly!

Ronnie graduated from Gretna High School and started his career with English Construction in Altavista in the early seventies. Later he went to work for Klopman Mills in Hurt until his retirement. Throughout his entire life he maintained his love of the family farm and managed its upkeep along with his brother, Garry, until finally purchasing the farm in 2021 after Garry's death. The land was truly the source of his lifeblood.

Ronnie grew up with a passion for softball which he shared with his brothers. The family dynamic was hard to beat in the 1970's. Among local softball church teams "The Dalton Gang" was one to make many a knee quiver!! Their achievements went beyond local to state and national tournaments. That legacy and love of ball was passed on to his son. Ron had a unique ability to love and connect to all things furry: cats, dogs, horses, and cattle. Everything in nature was at peace around Ron. His family and the world will greatly miss this quiet, gentle, strong and loving man.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Andrews.  Burial will follow in the Dalton Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence, 6841 Music Street, Gretna.
