Hurt……Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Chumley, age 79 of Hurt passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born December 15, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Clifford Carroll Chumley and Laura Wooldridge Chumley.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Carl Chumley, Billy Chumley and Ralph Chumley; and five sisters, Penny Chumley, Barbara Hall, Doris "Tootsie" Atkinson, Dora "Teenie" Bradner and Shirley Bailess.  Ronnie was a retired truck driver with Midway Bottle Gas and a tobacco farmer.  He also enjoyed spending time in Florida, fishing; and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Kayla.

He is survived by two daughters, Connie Goad and husband, Donald of Altavista and Jennifer Cox and husband, Terry of Lynch Station; four sisters, Lena Bennett and husband, Kermit of Hurt, Katherine Dodson of Danville, Sue Crews of Hurt, and Chris Franklin of Hurt; three grandchildren, Daniel Shelton, David Shelton and Kayla Hutcherson; and four great-grandchildren, Rhys, Davik, Axle and Camden.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025 at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Brady Willis.  Burial will follow in the Chumley Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
