Pittsville……….Ronald "Ronnie" William Martin, age 65 of Pittsville died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Duke University Hospital.
Born April 15, 1949 in Williamsburg he was a son of the late Robert Leslie Martin, Sr. and Gladys Louise Vaughan Martin. Mr. Martin was a member of Summersett Baptist Church. He was a member of the Southeastern Cherokee Confederacy and his Native American name was "Walks Alone." He was a craftsman and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed painting, bowling, sculpting, and music.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Hodges Martin of the residence; two daughters, Cheryl Martin Irby and her husband, Jason of Pittsville and Lorie Leigh Martin and her fiancé, Steve Doss of Penhook; one brother, Robert L. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Lanexa; three grandchildren, Lee Otto, Jason Damion Jones and Tiffany Otto; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Summersett Baptist Church, 3773 Bibee Road, Pittsville, VA by Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
