Gretna……Robert Noah "Coon Hunter" Rose, age 83 of Gretna died Monday, April 15, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born February 10, 1941 in Jenkins, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Bill Rose and Mary Jane Bentley Rose.  He was predeceased by three daughters, Melissa Bannister, Margaret Arrowwood, and Katherine Jewell; five brothers, Owens Rose, Paul Rose, Earl Rose, Billy Rose and Arnold Rose; and five sisters, Cordedia Sowards, Arlenia Pilkenton, Geraldine Hylton, Mallie Mae Tibbs, and Maggie Balthis.  Mr. Rose was a former truck driver for Coca-Cola.  He loved coon hunting and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose of the residence; five sons, Melvin Hoar and wife, Marcy of Florida, William Jewell of Spotsylvania, Willie Jewell of Spotsylvania, Woodrow Jewell of Monroe, and Robbie Rose of South Carolina; one sister, Phillis Slone and husband, Emil of Pound; two half-brothers, Michael Rose of Pound and Jeffery Rose of California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Altavista Baptist Tabernacle.
