Evington……….Robert Jackson (Jack) Mitchell, age 84 of Evington died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born April 23, 1930 in Campbell County he was a son of the late Robert Mitchell and Irene Bailey Mitchell. He was predeceased by one son, Jackie Mitchell; six brothers, Bobby Mitchell, Eldridge Mitchell, Wyatt Mitchell, Walter Mitchell, Billy Mitchell and Ted Mitchell. He was a retired carpenter, a veteran of the US Marines and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed working and spending time with his grandchildren especially his buddies, Hannah and Justin.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Allen Mitchell of the residence; three sons, Terry Mitchell (Tracy), Jeffrey Mitchell, and Scott Mitchell (Tammy); two sisters, Jean Rowland (Anderson) and Sue Blackstock (Edwin); 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Following his wishes there will be no public service.
