In the presence of his family, Captain Robert David "Bob" Berger passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, November 13, 2025 in Austin, Texas, after twenty years of an off-and-on struggle with cancer.  Bob was born July 1, 1942 at Independence, VA to David Joseph (Joe) and Pearl Elmore Berger of Gretna, VA.

He attended Climax High School, class of 1964, followed by four years at Virginia Tech.  He earned a BS in electrical engineering and entered The US Air Force where he served as a pilot, flying first B-52's and eventually the Phantom F-4 reconnaissance plane. For his service, he was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross.

After his tour of duty, Bob was employed by Delta Air Lines where he served for 32 years, becoming Senior Pilot before retirement.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Kristin Berger, his parents, and his sister Ann Roe Berger.

He is survived by his children: Lucas Robinson and Christi Brown Berger of Austin, Texas; Ryan and Megan Berger of Danvers, Massachusetts; Lauren Berger and Weston Platter of Denver, Colorado; his sister, Betty Jo Camden-Langston of Pittsvillle, Virginia.; and his former wife, Carole Robinson of Dover, New Hampshire.

Bob is also survived by his grandchildren: Lucas "Lucky," Sophia, Isaiah, and Hannah of Austin, Texas; and Evangeline "Eva" of Massachusetts.  He also leaves a nephew, Chip Camden; nieces, Roanna Camden and Jerry Cann; and Christa Camden and Dale Heron.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Faith Community Bible Church in Loudon, New Hampshire.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Berger Family Cemetery, Gretna, Virginia. Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, Virginia

A luncheon will follow the graveside service at Anderson Memorial Methodist Church, Gretna, Virginia.
