Hurt………Richard Wayne Wilson, age 71 of 607 Spring Street, Hurt died Friday, May 12, 2017 at his residence.
Born September 2, 1945 in Altavista, he was a son of Sylvia Vaughan Wilson and the late George Wallace Wilson. He was predeceased by his son David Wayne Wilson and a grandson, Devin Kirby. Richard was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, was a retired US Rural Mail Carrier, and was a veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, playing Rook and painting.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Nancy Hutcherson Wilson of the residence; two step-sons, Elton Blackstock and wife, Sue, and Michael Blackstock and Susan; one step-daughter, Kim Moore and Bob; a daughter-in-law, Marianne Wilson; former mother-in-law, Ina Midkiff; three grandchildren, Zachary Wayne Wilson, LeNae Sage Wilson, and Layton Thomas Wilson; 6 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Brady Willis. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
