Sandy Level……….Richard Ray Powell, age 89 of Sandy Level passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026 at his residence.

Born April 20, 1937 in Fort Bragg, NC, he was a son of the late Carlos Furman Powell and Margaret Overton Powell Renkel.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Stephens.  Mr. Powell was a sign painter and a talented artist.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Stegall Powell of the residence; one son, Dennis Powell and wife, Kay of Timberlake, NC; two daughters, Diane Powell of Chapel Hill, NC and Lynne Mabry and husband, Mark of Rougemont, NC; one sister, Sybil Tyndall of Rougemont, NC; one brother, Larry Powell and wife Ann, of Bahama, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Sapaugh, Jackie Sapaugh, Caleb Sapaugh, Nicholas Powell, Chase Powell, Tanner Powell, Ashley Stephens, Melissa Stephens and Casey Mabry, and 18 great grandchildren.

Per his request there will be no public service.
