Hurt………Richard Dean Hoggatt, Sr., age 89 and Mary Lou Phillips Hoggatt, age 72 of Hurt died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at their residence as the result of a house fire.
Born March 2, 1926 in Minnesota, Richard was a son of the late Grace Hoggatt. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed reading, painting and collecting art and sculptors.
Born June 9, 1942 in South Carolina, Mary was a daughter of the late Loyal Phillips and Katie Nix Phillips. She was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Phillips and a sister, Roma P. Weimer. Mrs. Hoggatt was a home maker and a seamstress. She enjoyed taking care of her husband, and loved to read. Richard and Mary were married for 53 years; they enjoyed taking care of their birds and their other animals especially their dog Cha-Cha.
They are survived by one son, Richard Dean Hoggatt, Jr. and his wife, Cheryll of Colorado Spring, CO; two daughters, Niki Hendricks and her husband, Rickie of Hurt and Cheryl Hoggatt of Hurt; two granddaughters, Brittney Podgurski and Cheyeanne Johnson; and two great-grandsons, Jonathan Mayer and Richard Mayer.
There will be no public service.
