Gretna…….Richard Lloyd Kemp, age 72 of Gretna died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born December 6, 1948 in Odin, IL, he was a son of the late Gordon Hauser Kemp and Alta Hines Kemp. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon Kemp and Billy Kemp; and one sister, Geraldine Linder.  Mr. Kemp was a Navy Veteran of Vietnam and was member of Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church. Richard loved being outdoors, squirrel hunting, mowing grass, spending time with his family, but most importantly he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Kemp of the residence; one daughter, Melody Thompson and significant other, Timothy Garrett of Danville; one son, Samuel Kemp and partner, Rodney Burley of Farmville; two sisters; and two grandchildren, Amy Jean Thompson and Noah Allen Hardy.

Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Gretna Post 232 and Altavista Post 36 will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Simpson Family Cemetery by Rev. Dennis Nichols.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Colbert-Moran Funeral Home in memory of Richard Kemp to assist with funeral expenses.
