Hurt……….Richard Floyd Kathan, age 59 of Hurt died Monday, May 25, 2015.
Born June 17, 1955 in Keene, New Hampshire he was a son of Leona Elizabeth Upton Hooper and her husband, Frank of Chester, VT and the late Earl Floyd Kathan. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Joseph Kathan. Mr. Kathan was a truck driver for Owens's trucking. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, mechanic work, gambling, tree trimming, and camping with the grandchildren.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Frances Duby Kathan of the residence; two sons, Wayne Kathan, Sr. and his wife, Heather of Gretna, and Thomas Kathan and partner, Jason Bradner of Altavista; one daughter, Sabrina Copping and her husband, Fredrick of Missouri; two brothers, Jim Kathan and friend, Sally of Hurt and Mike Kathan of Chester, VT; one sister, Nancy Farmer and her husband, Bobby of Durham, NC; his mother-in-law, Rosa Rowell of Altavista; 13 grandchildren and one due in early June; and one great-grandchild, who he called "Baby Girl."
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Dr. Bobby Hull.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 31, 2015. After the service, the family has invited everyone to the residence for food and beverages.
