Hurt………William Richard Short, Jr., age 62 of Hurt died Monday, March 29, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born April 10, 1958 in Campbell County, he was a son of William Richard "Dickie" Short, Sr. of Hurt and the late Doris Elliott Short.  He was predeceased by one brother, Ralph Lee Short.  Mr. Short was a member of Church of God of Prophecy Altavista, and he was the owner/operator of Richard Short Carpet Service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing, coaching youth sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Tina Dalton Short of the residence; two sons, William Richard Short III and wife, Molly of Chatham, and Brian Dalton of Gretna; two daughters, Angela Yeatts of Dry Fork, and Toni Epperson of Gretna; three brothers, Robert Short of Hurt, Ray Short of Hurt, and Randy Short of Hurt; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Whit Mayton.
