Gretna..….Richard Eugene Crews, Sr., age 94 of Gretna died Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Born March 24, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Jessie Jackson Crews and Gracie Short Crews. He was predeceased by two sons, Michael Crews and Richard "Gene" Crews, Jr.; three sisters, Lottie Fisher, Hessie Burton and Catherine Robey; and seven brothers, Robert Crews, William Crews, Jessie Crews, Walter Crews, Roy Crews, Verp Crews and Edison Crews. He loved his job as a truck driver for Yeatts Transfer for 27 years. He also enjoyed tobacco and cattle farming, playing bingo and the lottery, but most of all Pop loved family get togethers.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth Crews and wife, Diane of Hurt; one daughter, Joan Marie Montgomery and husband, Jack of Manassas; longtime girlfriend, Francis Webster; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Per his request there will be no public service.
