Martinsville….…..Richard Bowling, age 82 of Martinsville died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center of Martinsville.
Born June 22, 1933 in Franklin County he was a son of the late John William Bowling and Ruby Dillon Bowling. He was predeceased by a son, Larry Bowling; and three brothers, Dan Bowling, Roy Bowling and Curtis Bowling. Mr. Bowling was a former employee of the Lane Company. He enjoyed painting and siting on the porch watching the traffic go by.
He is survived by three sons, Jeff Bowling and his wife, Becky of Hurt, Timmy Bowling of Blairs and Brian Keith Bowling of Austin, TX; one daughter, Patsy Bowling Ayers of Martinsville; one brother, Lewis Bowling and his wife, Doris of Hurt; three sisters, Edith Edwards of Gretna, Joyce Gay and her husband, Tommy of Gretna and Dorothy Roach of Huddleston; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Larry Evans, Minister. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Becky Bowling, 201 Tanyard Road, Hurt.
