Gretna……...Richard "R.W." Whittle Blair, age 74 of Gretna, died Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born January 20, 1950 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Aaron Blair and Agnes Watson Blair.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Aaron Blair, Jr. and Marvin Blair.  Mr. Blair was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church.  He loved dogs; and enjoyed watching horse racing and Major League Baseball.

He is survived by one son, Chris Blair and wife, Anna of Chatham; one brother, Joe Blair and wife, Doris of Gretna; two sisters, Judy Doss and husband, Wilsie Doss, Jr. of Chatham and Irene Dove of Gretna; and two grandchildren, Avery Blair and Ashton Blair.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Pastor Roger Ewing.  Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Judy Doss and Wilsie Doss, Jr.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gretna Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 14, Gretna, VA 24557 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gretna Health and Rehab Center and Centra Hospice of Lynchburg for their love and care.
