Penhook……….Rebecca Jefferson Walker, age 87 of Penhook died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Red Oak Manor in Rocky Mount.
Born March 15, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late David Paul Jefferson and Beulah Adkins Jefferson. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnson G. Walker; a son, Giles Walker; three brothers, Hubert Jefferson, Perry Jefferson, and Jake Jefferson; four sisters, Lottie Divers, Elizabeth Burgess, Georgie Hellmondollar and Shirley Sutphin. Mrs. Walker was a member of Forrest Hill Christian Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed sewing, being outdoors, her flower gardens and making rock designs in her gardens. The family wants to thank Red Oak Manor for the wonderful care she received.
She is survived by two sons, David K. Walker and wife, Dell of Penhook, and Dennis J. Walker and wife, JoAnn; a daughter, Deborah Bowler and husband, Dennis of Gretna; two sisters, Charlotte Rigney of Martinsville and Sylvia McGregor of Evington; a daughter-in-law, Joni Walker or Cincinnati, Oh; three grandchildren, John Walker and wife, Tina, Margaret Harris and husband, Ed and Laura Garton and husband, C.J.; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Forrest Hill Christian Church by Ted Clifton, Minister. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park in Danville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials be made to Greenfield Baptist Church, P.O. Box 875 Gretna, VA 24557 and note that the funds are for Alzheimer Research.
