Gretna………Reba Gibson Midkiff, age 95 of Gretna died Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Summitt Health and Rehab Center in Lynchburg.

Born in 1927 in the Whittles community of Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Jabez Gibson and Bonnie Haden Gibson.  She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert Herman Midkiff, Sr.; five brothers, Rither Gibson, James Gibson, Walter Gibson, Elvin Gibson, Nelson Gibson; and five sisters, Mary Martin, Elsie Blevins, Mildred Rowland, Ruth Chamberlain, and Jo Ann Giles.  Mrs. Midkiff was a lifelong member of Payneton United Methodist Church in the Whittles community where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served on many committees and was a member of the UMW.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and entertaining friends and family.  She retired from the Sales Department of the Lane Company and enjoyed staying in touch with her former co-workers.

She is survived by two sons, Alan Midkiff and wife, Pat of Brandon, FL and Robert Midkiff, Jr. and wife, Gail of State Road, NC; four grandchildren, Robert D. Midkiff (Christina), Dennis J. Midkiff (Casey), Matthew G. Midkiff (Kelly) and Laura M. Oakes (Josh); and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Payneton United Methodist Church by Rev. Betty Marshall and Rev. Harold Thornton.  Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Payneton United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who have made our mother's life more fulfilling in her declining years.
