Hurt……….Linwood Ray Cook, age 66 of Hurt, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Centra Gretna Medical Center.
Born October 2, 1949 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Lynwood Cook and Betty Blair Cook. He was predeceased by two sons, Jamie Cook and Derek Kelly; and two brothers, Calvin Cook and Blair Cook. Mr. Cook was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and was a former employee of Klopman Mills. He enjoyed running his beagles, hunting and fishing. Mr. Cook loved making music with his friends, reading his bible, working horses, going to ball games and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, Scotty Cook of Gretna; four daughters, Myra Barbour and husband, Anthony of Gretna, Emily Bailess and husband, Jamee of Hurt, Samantha Crouch and husband, Aaron of Hurt, and Mary Layne and husband, Travis of Hurt; two sisters, Wyona Jefferson of Gretna and Patricia Custer and husband, Roy of Gretna; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one step-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Altavista Church of Christ by Larry Evans, Minister and Rusty Owens, Minister. Burial will follow at the Hedrick Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Jamee Bailess, 261 Derby Road, Hurt.
