Roanoke……….Ralph Julian Hines, Sr., age 85 of Roanoke died Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke.
Born September 30, 1927 in Bedford County he was a son of the late Jack Hines and Marie Tuck Hines. He was predeceased by three brothers, A.J. Hines, Ray Hines, and Sherman Hines; and two sisters, Polly Knight, and Faye Johnson. Mr. Hines was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and was an Army Veteran. He was a brick mason.
He is survived by three sons, Ralph Hines, Jr. and his wife, Becky of Rustburg, Jeff Hines and his wife Christie of Monroe, and James Hines and his wife, Wendy of Monroe; one daughter, Loretta Hines of Madison Heights; four brothers, Wallace Hines, Dickie Hines, Ben Hines, and J.W. Hines; a step-brother, Jesse Tate; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Summersett Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jason Andrews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
