Gretna………Ralph Lee Edwards, age 80 of Deerview Road, Gretna passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Chatham Health and Rehab Center.
Born September 9, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Willie Bennett Edwards and Cora Hines Edwards. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ray Bennett Edwards, George William Edwards and Alvin Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a lifelong resident of Pittsylvania County and was a long time member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. He was an insurance agent for American General.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Lee Edwards and his wife, Donna of Roanoke and Gary Mark Edwards of Gretna; one daughter, Wanda Edwards Miller and her husband, Craig of Davidson, NC; three grandchildren, Carley Elizabeth Edwards, Terry Lee "T.J." Edwards, Jr. and Ally Elizabeth Miller; his former wife, Betty Jones Edwards of Davidson, NC; a sister-in-law, Nancy Edwards; and two foster brothers, Bobby Shelton of Hurt and Billy Shelton of Charleston, SC.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church.
