Ralph Neil Brumfield, of Round Rock, Texas and Gretna, Virginia died at home on February 19, 2026. He was born November 20, 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Benjamin Franklin "Pat" Brumfield Jr. and Ida Matilda Waller.

He married Mary Ann Brumfield of Gretna in 1967, and they moved to Port Arthur, Texas.  They settled in Bridge City, Texas in 1971 and remained there until 2008, when their house was flooded by Hurricane Ike. In 2010 they moved to Round Rock, Texas to be closer to their son and his family.

Neil graduated from Gretna High School in 1962 and from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1967 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He worked for more than four decades at the Texaco Port Arthur Plant, designing electrical substations, transmission lines, and motor and control systems.

He loved reading, discussing family history with older relatives and taking younger ones on the "old house and cemetery tour."  He and Mary Ann enjoyed road trips to the mountain west or back to Virginia to visit family.  He enjoyed visiting friends and family over several cups of coffee, and was always there to support his son and family in school activities.  He was a deacon at Bridge City Christian Church.

Neil is survived by his son Ben, daughter-in-law Sara, and his granddaughters Josephine and Octavia. He is predeceased by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Ann.

The visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, February, 27, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

Funeral services will held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Gretna Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister and Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
