Gretna……Raleigh Andrew Sours, Sr., age 83 of Gretna died Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Lynchburg Health and Rehab.

Born June 8, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Shelton Andrew Sours and Ruby Brooks Sours Brown.  He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Britney Lambert.  Mr. Sours was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from BGF.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing UNO, going to flea markets, and working on lawn mowers.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Pierce Sours, whom he lovingly referred to as Peanut; his dog and best friend, Peanut of the residence; one son, Andy Sours and wife, Amanda of Gretna; four daughters, Tanya Dalton and husband, Jeffery of Gretna, Tonya Moses and husband, Bud of Gretna, Tina Hall of Mt. Airy, NC and Tracy Glass and husband, Steve of Gladys; one sister, Nina Malone of Maryland; and 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild .

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Mill Creek Community Church Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
