Chatham…….Poppie Rigney Allen, age 85 of Chatham passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born September 22, 1930 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Bertha Rigney. She was twice married, first to the late Berkley Pruitt and then to the late Marion "Mike" S. Allen. She was also predeceased by one son, Joel Pruitt; three brothers, Clinton Rigney, Otis Rigney and Lonnie Rigney; and a sister, Thelma. Mrs. Allen was a member of Museville Christian Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, cooking, flower gardening, bird watching and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Falls and her husband, Jerry of Callands and Pauline Hedrick and her husband, Earnest. of Chatham; one sister, Gladys Pruitt of Callands; five grandchildren, Amanda Knight, Lisa Astin, Pamela Roach, Eric Pruitt and Blake Pruitt; nine great-grandchildren, Stephanie Morris, Nathan Roach, Paily Pruitt, Pryor Pruitt, Pieryn Pruitt, Taylor Astin, Jai Penn, Kya Pruitt and Jacob Pruitt; and two great-great-grandchildren, Payten Roach and Bryson Roach.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by her grandson, Pastor Eric Pruitt.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
