Gretna………Phyllis Young Lilly, age 91 of Gretna died Friday, December 27, 2024 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born September 15, 1933 in Hinton, WV, she was a daughter of the late Oris Edgar Young and Martha Chapman Young.  She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. William David "Bill" Lilly; one son, David Lilly; and one sister, Rosa Lee Lilly.  Mrs. Lilly was a piano teacher and had a love for music.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna.  She loved her church and it was a big part of her life.  Mrs. Lilly enjoyed traveling worldwide but her greatest joy in life was her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Swart and husband, Mark of Altavista; four grandchildren, Mark Swart, Jr. and wife, Tami, Jessica Godfrey, Allen Swart and wife, Tori and William Lilly; daughter-in-law, Dale Lilly; five great-grandchildren, Jada, Rachel, Dallas, Noah and Eli; and caregivers, Virgie Rowland, Martha Osborne, Shelby Easley and Dale Clay.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Bob Ballance.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the residence, 306 Vaden Drive, Gretna.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Gretna, P.O. Box 339, Gretna, VA 24557.
