Hurt……….Phyllis Gay Farris, age 71 of Hurt, died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born January 26, 1950 in Pittsylvania Co., she was a daughter of the late Harry Steele Gay and Ethel Blair Gay. She was predeceased by two brothers, Kenny Gay and Tommy Gay. She was of the Methodist faith and was a former teacher for Pittsylvania County Schools. Mrs. Farris was a servant of the Lord and was always looking to help someone in need; she loved her family and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Farris of Hurt; one daughter, Mary Beth Farris of Hurt; one brother, David Gay and wife, Lisa of Roanoke; two sisters, Pat Dunn and husband, Gerald of Greenville, SC and Susan Shelton and life partner, Len Evans of Conyers, GA; two grandchildren, Dillon Farris and Jaden Farris; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
