Hurt………Phyliss Betterton Burnette, age 84 of Hurt passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born September 12, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Bennie Arnold Betterton, Sr. and Mamie Roark Betterton. She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin "Benny" Franklin Burnette; and one brother, Butch Betterton. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and retired from Sara Lee. Phyliss loved her church family and helping others. She enjoyed visiting the Outer Banks and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Gwenith Barley of Hurt; three sons, Michael Burnette and wife, Jeanette of Gretna, Mickey Burnette and wife, Monica of Monterey and Matthew "Moose" Burnette and wife, Kathy of Hurt; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
