Obituary

Dry Fork…..Phillip Alan Wright, age 18, of Dry Fork went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Born February 24, 1998 in Danville, he was a son of Benjamin Keith Wright and Emily Overby Wright, both of Dry Fork.
Phillip was a 2016 Honor Graduate and Graduate of Merit of Chatham High School, and a current student at Danville Community College. He played varsity baseball for Chatham High School for four years, played for American Legion Post 325, which won the State Championship in 2016, and was the pitcher for the DCC Knights baseball team. Phillip was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, where he was involved in the youth group and in missions. He was a Christian whose love for the Lord and others was demonstrated in his daily actions, as well as his participation in four church mission trips. He also enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, rooting for the Florida State Seminoles, and engaging in lively political discussions. He was dearly loved by his friends and family for his generous spirit, loving personality, and infectious smile.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Tyler Wayne Burgess, Andrew James Coles, and Ryan Mason Wright; paternal grandparents, Sylvia and Wayne Doss of Gretna and Terry Wright and fiancée, Wanda Taylor of Stokesdale, NC; maternal grandparents, Robert and Janet Yeatts of Dry Fork; maternal great-grandparents, Allen and Debra Mills; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Norman Phillip Overby, and paternal great-grandparents, Hilton and Ethel Adkins and Stoney and Louise Wright, and maternal great-grandparents, James and Jerleen Yeatts and Eva Mills.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Chromy and Rev. Josh Mark. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence of his father, Benjamin Wright, 15809 Franklin Turnpike, Dry Fork, and at the residence of his mother, Emily Wright, 604 Hopewell Road, Dry Fork.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered for Chatham High School's Baseball Program, 100 Chatham Cavalier Circle, Chatham, VA 24531, or Danville Community College's Baseball Program, 1008 S. Main Street Danville, VA 24541.
