Madison, NC……….Phillip Barry Schwitzerlett, age 81 of Madison, NC, died Monday, January 8, 2024 at ECU Health Duplin Hospital.

Born July 9, 1942 in Danville, he was a son of the late Samuel Thomas Schwitzerlett and Mary Mayhew Schwitzerlett.  He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Marie Bowler Schwitzerlett; three brothers, Sammy Schwitzerlett, Berkley Schwitzerlett, and Quinby Schwitzerlett; and one sister, Frances S. Bosiger.  Mr. Schwitzerlett was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC, and he retired from Nationwide Insurance.  He loved his dogs, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by one son, Barry Schwitzerlett and wife, Shelley; two grandchildren, Sydney Cobb and husband, Tyler, and Samuel Schwitzerlett; and one great-granddaughter, Alice Rose Cobb.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.
