Chatham………Lenwood "Pete" Thomas Osborne, age 86 of Chatham died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his residence.
Born January 11, 1931 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Reuben Osborne and Luttie Rigney Osborne. He was predeceased by two brothers, Herman Osborne and Haywood Osborne. Mr. Osborne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna, was a farmer and worked in the Motley Tobacco Warehouse for many years. He enjoyed blue grass music, fox hunting, horseback riding and riding his buggy in his later years. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Nora Violet Shelton Osborne of the residence; four daughters, Pam Pruitt and husband, Mike of Providence, NC, Madonna Wright and husband, Mark of Winston-Salem, NC, Amy Hines of Gretna and Sharon Strader and husband, Larry of Chatham; one son, Gregg Osborne and wife, Sonya of Chatham; one brother, Jim Osborne and wife, Wayburn of Gretna; three sisters, Annie Jefferson of Gretna, Beulah Brittin of Gretna and Jean Jones of Chatham; nine grandchildren, Desmond Pruitt (Katie), Durand Pruitt (Jesse), Zachary Wright, Kirsten Wright, Ben Hines (Melissa), Chelsea Rossman (Steven), Tyler Strader, Ethan Osborne and Kaleigh Osborne; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Dr. Roy M. Ford, Jr. and Rev. Ernest G. Roebuck. Burial will follow in the Osborne Family Cemetery, Climax.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1449 Snowberry Road, Chatham.
