Chatham..…..William Baxter "Pete" Haskins, age 94 of Chatham died Friday, August 23, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 9, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Odie Anderson Haskins and Alice Watson Haskins.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Octavia Doss and Elva Atkins; and one brother, Mickey Haskins.  Mr. Haskins was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren and he retired from Ennis after 39 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Oakes Haskins of the residence; one son, Bill Haskins of Chatham; two step-sons, Bruce Barker and wife, Wendy of Ringgold and Michael Barker of Danville; seven step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor David Shumate and Rev. Curtis English.  Burial will follow in New Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Climax Volunteer Fire Department c/o Ken Porzio, 1876 Cooksburg Road, Chatham, VA 24531 or to New Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery Fund, 313 Lark Drive, Chatham, VA 24531.
