Hurt……….Perry Wright Dillon, 89, of 121 Highwayview Road, Hurt died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born July 20, 1922 in Franklin County, he was a son of the late Taze Hubbard Dillon and Hettie Ann Holland Dillon. He was twice married, first to the late Eva Mae Holland Dillon and then to Eula Moorefield Dillon of the residence. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Zeddie Hudson, Jo Perdue, and Edna Hubbard; and one brother, Clarence Dillon. Mr. Dillon was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 99th Division Infantry. He was owner of Dillon's Construction Company. He was a member of Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church, and was a Charter & Lifetime member of Hurt Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Dillon enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronnie Dillon and wife, Betty of Danville; one daughter, Vanessa Coffey and husband, Steve of Evington; two step-sons, Charles Andrews and wife, Judy of Rockville, MD, and Gary Andrews and wife, Barbie of Lynch Station; one brother, Farest Dillon of Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church (located at the intersection of Weatherford Drive and North Music Street, Gretna) by Elder Raymond Goad, Elder Marvin Brumfield, and Ronnie Dillon. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
