Hurt…..Perly Vernon (Nic) Nichols, age 77 of Hurt died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his residence.
Born January 7, 1936 in Torrington, Wyoming he was a son of the late, Robert Vernon Nichols and Hattie Blanton Nichols. Mr. Nichols was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Gayle Nichols and two step-sons, Randy Clay and Darryl Clay, Sr. He was a thirty-six year veteran having served in the Marines, Army and National Guard. He enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sallie Irene Henderson Nichols of the residence; one daughter, Gina Beck and her husband, Walter of Oakland, NJ; two brothers, Jay Lee Nichols of Othello, WA and Donald Nichols and wife, Lila of Billings, MT; one sister, Vilda Reynolds and husbamd, Bob of Denver CO; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Tim Lane. Burial with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will follow in Motley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
