Gretna……….Penny Sue Hunt Haley, age 63 of Gretna passed away Monday, May 25, 2026 at her residence surrounded by family.

Born October 21, 1962 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of JoAnn Moorefield Hall of Gretna and the late James Byron Hunt.  She was predeceased by her devoted step-father, James Hall. Penny was a dedicated medical assistant at  SOVAH Family Medicine in Gretna, where she genuinely loved caring for people and making others feel comforted and cared for. She never met a stranger and found joy in helping those around her. Penny loved spending time at the beach, but above all, she cherished her family and adored every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren. She also deeply valued the friendships she shared with her coworkers, who became like extended family to her over the years. Their love, support, and memories meant so much to her.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Charlie Sanford Haley III of the residence; one daughter, Taylor Barbour and husband, Kyle of Dry Fork; one son, Chandler Haley and wife, Caitlin; and five grandchildren, Bentley, Layla, Riley, Elliott and David. She is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whom she loved deeply and who will cherish her memory always.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Dr. Jim Hewitt, Rev. Bob Ballance and Rev. Jason Andrews.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
