Gretna……...Peggy Barber Farmer, age 88 of Gretna, Virginia passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 at Runk and Pratt Pearls of Life Lynchburg, Virginia.

Born June 23, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late William Lovelace Barber and Nannie Kate Towler Barber.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Carroll Farmer; her sister, Edna Ferguson; and two brothers-in-laws, Benjamin Farmer and James Atkins.
Mrs. Farmer graduated from Climax High School and was a dedicated member of Piney Fork Baptist Church until her decline in health.  She enjoyed many years of singing in the choir.  She retired from Centra Medical Center, Gretna, Virginia.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Davidson and husband, Doug of Statesville, NC, Martha Adkins and husband, Mike of Gretna, VA and Janet Hancock and husband, Ricky of Gretna, VA.  She was Na-Na to three grandchildren, Daniel Ruff and Kristi Irby, Jay Ruff and wife, Allie and Mary Morrisette and husband, Rob; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Ruff and Brianna Martin, Jordan Ruff, Kate Morrisette and Levi Morrisette; one great-great-grandchild, Ellie Ruff; a special niece, Ellen Atkins Smith.  Also, surviving is one brother, Elwood Barber and wife, Linda; sister-in-law, Peggy Atkins; and nieces, nephew and great-nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Tyler R. Daniels, Dr. Jim Hewitt and Rev. Bob Ballance.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Mike Adkins.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Gretna or to your favorite charity.
