Hurt…..Peggy Burnette Byrd, age 75 of Hurt died Thursday, July 2, 2015.
Born January 27, 1940 in Altavista, she was a daughter of the late, William (Bill) Christopher Burnette and Virginia Louise Stevens Burnette. She was predeceased by her husband, James Louis Byrd and a brother C.D. Burnette. Mrs. Byrd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altavista and was a retired employee of BGF Industries. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, reading, and was an amazing cook. Mrs. Byrd loved playing with her cat "Abbie" and taking care of her extended family
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hines; two brothers, Leon Burnette and wife Dorothy and Johnny Burnette and wife, Kathy; two sisters Nancy Blanks and Brenda Winn; a sister-in-in-law Donna Burnette; two granddaughters, Alix Hines and Katie Hines; and her cat "Abbie."
Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Altavista Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Altavista EMS, P.O. Box 1, Altavista, VA 24517 or to the Campbell County Humane Society, P.O. Box 659, Rustburg, VA 24588.
